Course Description:
This course is specifically designed for workers without training in mental health/trauma counseling. During this course you will gain a deeper understanding of the neuroscience of traumatic experiences. Recognize the most common psychological presentations in survivors of sexual exploitation. Learn basic individual and group counseling skills and evidenced-based trauma interventions, and learn ways to assess and manage your quality of life as a caregiver so that Burnout and Secondary Traumatic Stress is limited. Special presenters in this course will also cover spiritual issues with trauma recovery, the impacts of shame on survivors of sexual exploitation, and the use of creativity in healing from trauma and sexual exploitation.
