A 500-year-old cycle of systematic exploitation
Thousands of children are prostituted every year
One of Southern Asia's poorest communities has bought into a lie.
They believe they are destined for a life of exploitation, fated to prostitute their daughters to provide for their family. The children living in the 76 rural villages that form this community are groomed for exploitation from birth. Girls are expected to live in sexual slavery, and young boys are trained as the next generation of pimps. This is their way of life and has been for centuries. We are on a mission to break this cycle.
We believe the light of God can transform this community, and bring freedom to these children and their families.
Our mission is to bring hope to the children in these villages while also equipping and empowering them to bring holistic and transformational change back into their communities - breaking the grip of sexual slavery over this community.
We believe they are future leaders of Southern Asia.
Our Solution
EDUCATION
We believe education is a key to changing the trajectory of children’s lives in these village communities. Currently, children attending school in these communities is not valued. Although some do attend for the first few years, there is nearly a 100% drop-out rate for girls. By providing consistent access to education, the children in this community will be prepared to study in any field they want and be equipped to pursue a good job with dignity and freedom.
Each child has different needs, as many are uneducated, behind, or need special assistance. Our desire is to meet each child where they are developmentally and work with them personally by tailoring our school academy’s holistic curriculum to their learning pace.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Establishing relationships is vital to the sustainability of our programs. New opportunities to reach more villagers happen as our team builds trust through community outreach initiatives like:
Medical outreaches
Home repair projects
Food distribution
SAFE HOMEs
Vulnerable children throughout this community need a safe and nurturing home where they have access to nutritious meals every day, a safe sleeping space, and staff that will love and support them through their healing process.
As our work has expanded in this area, we recognize the dire need for a new safe home for high-risk teenage girls in the community. This new home would complement our two existing safe homes for young boys and girls.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
Access to a new beginning is crucial in transforming the economic aspect of this community. Our work in this area will offer vocational training courses to women that desire to take a step toward freedom and a new way of providing for their families.
A variety of training opportunities will be offered including tailoring, jewelry making, leather goods, agricultural training, and even training for Rickshaw driving (taxi service), just to name a few!
God is making a way in Southern Asia.
Every day, more children are trapped in a life of sexual slavery. But the Village Project is growing to help more and more children.
2024 marked the completion of a new older girl’s home, and the project now is comprised of a preschool, a K-10 school, staff quarters, and two safe homes for younger boys and girls, in addition to the older girls’ home.
OUr next step?
We are making plans for a new sports complex to provide a safe, vibrant space for children from the surrounding villages and our safe homes and schools. This facility will offer opportunities for kids to engage in sports and physical activities, fostering community, teamwork, and personal growth.
In an area where play spaces are scarce, this complex will be a hub for safe recreation, promoting well-being and creating a place where kids can experience the joy of childhood. Your support will help provide hope and opportunity for the next generation.
