HOPE STARTS HERE STORIES
What Joslyn Taught Us
In February 2020, Joslyn was only 12 years old when she felt God calling her to give $1,000 to missions. She was heartbroken by the fact that children her age and younger were being trafficked and she knew she wanted to do something to help victims who had been sexually exploited. Project Rescue kept reappearing in her mind and she knew what she had to do.
After talking with her parents, Joslyn came up with a plan to raise the funds. Not only would she give the money for her to go to pony camp that had been given to her as a birthday present, she would also work 3 side jobs over the summer to save up to her goal. Between bake sales, mowing lawns for neighbors, and cleaning for her grandmothers, Joslyn was amazed at people’s generosity and how they wanted to help her reach her goals. Her bake sale alone raised over $300 as people willingly gave to support Joslyn’s cause.
“It was really meaningful just to give, to try and help out. I would encourage people to just open their ears to what the Lord has to say to them and if He wants you to give money, then raise money and don’t wait” Joslyn says.
She was able to raise the funds faster than she expected and understood just how meaningful it was to give towards Project Rescue’s mission. Joslyn is a reminder not just of how important it is to be generous, but the joy that comes from giving with a servant’s heart and listening to God with an eager attitude.
