Shaina

Shaina’s own mother refused to protect her. 

Shaina arrived at Happy Horizon’s Children Ranch (HHCR) as a teenager, bearing the deep scars of enduring years of abuse and sexual assault from her own father.

Tragically, her mother was aware of the ongoing abuse. She worried intervening would prompt her husband to leave her alone to care for their four children. This fear also kept her from going to the police; the prospect of her husband being arrested brought the grim possibility of her family being left without any financial support, leaving the children with no food and no future.

The situation reached a critical point when Shaina became pregnant with her father's child. This finally compelled friends and neighbors to take action—they intervened and reported the situation to the authorities.

Shaina and her siblings were rescued and placed under the care of HHCR, and a legal case was promptly filed against their father. He was ultimately sentenced and spent the remainder of his life in prison.

During this emotional transition, Shaina made the difficult decision to give her baby up for adoption, hoping to provide her child with a chance at a better life. Following this, she focused on rebuilding her own life.

She finished high school and graduated from college with a degree in elementary education.

Today, Shaina is a dedicated teacher at a local elementary school, deeply committed to her students.

Shaina has found peace and fulfillment, is married, and is a mother of four children. Through her faith, she has discovered her true value and worth, understanding herself as cherished and loved in God’s eyes.

This profound joy influences how she lives her life, particularly how she loves her family and students. Shaina is especially empathetic towards children who come from similar backgrounds of abuse.

Through her teaching and daily interactions, she extends the same unconditional love that helped her heal, aiming to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for all her students.
