HOPE STARTS HERE STORIES
Ranya
SWEET LITTLE RANYA HAS SURVIVED MORE HARDSHIP IN HER SHORT LIFE THAN MOST ADULTS WILL EVER EXPERIENCE.
Ranya's father was verbally and physically abusive. Not a day went by when Ranya’s mom wasn't physically or emotionally tortured in her own home.
One day, when Ranya was only eight months old, the abuse escalated. Her father kicked her mother out of the home, holding Ranya captive inside. Despite her mother’s desperate cries for help, he refused to open the door or return Ranya.
After seven agonizing hours of calling for help, the police finally arrived. When they forcefully opened the door, they found Ranya unresponsive with bruise marks on her face. She was rushed to the hospital and received the critical care she needed to recover.
But her father was released ... and the abuse continued.
Ranya’s mother described their home life as a “horrible nightmare.” During a drunken rage, Ranya’s father burned down their home and then abandoned them. For the next year, Ranya, her mother, and her two brothers were homeless. They had no clothes, possessions, or money. They slept on the street, scavenging for food from trash piles and garbage bins.
Our outreach team heard about this family and knew they needed help urgently. We intervened and rescued them, bringing them to one of our Project Rescue safe homes — a place of safety, healing, and opportunity.
Ranya’s mother received vocational training at the safe home, equipping her with the skills she needed to build a new life for her family. Now surrounded by love and care, Ranya is growing up happy and hopeful. She is learning, playing, and dreaming of a brighter future. Her brothers are also receiving education and support, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive.
The transformation in Ranya’s life is profound. She has emerged from a place of darkness and despair into a world of possibility and hope. Ranya’s story is a testament to the power of compassion and the impact of our collective efforts.
