HOPE STARTS HERE STORIES
Dani
Dani was 12 when she got kidnapped.
She spent ten years in captivity, being trafficked. She was abused sexually many times by Isis and got pregnant when she was 14. After being forced to get an abortion, she became pregnant again, only to have another abortion.
Continued abuse got her pregnant for a third time, but she was able to keep the child. All these pregnancies were from different men who had abused her.
The father of her son escaped to another country, and then he wanted to smuggle her and the baby across the border. She got caught at the border when border control figured out where she was from.
Before she was sent back to her family, they took her child from her because it is considered disgraceful for these women to bear a child from Isis.
When Dani first arrived at our center, she carried the weight of profound brokenness and pain. Suffering from immense sorrow, the most challenging aspect of her ordeal was the inability to confide in her family about the yearning for her child, as societal norms forbade such expressions.
In our efforts to assist her, we showered her with love and provided counseling, offering a sanctuary of acceptance.
Gradually, a transformation unfolded.
As we embraced her with understanding, she began to experience a sense of peace and trust. With newfound comfort, she started to open up, revealing fragments of her emotional journey with each shared narrative.
This process not only brought her joy and a sense of safety but also kindled a spark of hope within her for the future.
In addition to the emotional support, she actively engaged in our counseling and English classes. Through these endeavors, she cultivated a deeper sense of trust in herself, fostering newfound hope.
The journey has not only made her more resilient and mature but has also become a testament to her ongoing growth.
