HOPE STARTS HERE STORIES

Abiba

When Abiba was sixteen years old, her life took a tragic turn.

Her mother passed away, leaving her devastated and vulnerable. Shortly after, her father, unable or unwilling to care for her, kicked her out of their home.

Alone and afraid, Abiba didn't know where to turn.

In her time of need, a family friend approached her with an offer. He told her that she could secure a job if she traveled with him to Northern Africa. He assured her that she would live like his daughter, a promise that sounded like a beacon of hope in her dire situation.

However, upon arriving in Northern Africa, Abiba's dreams were shattered. Instead of finding a safe haven, she was forced into sexual slavery. She was beaten and raped continually, enduring unimaginable horrors. Her captor showed no mercy, and her life became a nightmare.

One day, a man appeared to offer her a lifeline. He seemed kind and offered her a job in his home, promising an escape from her brutal captor. Desperate for any way out, Abiba accepted his offer. But the man's true nature was revealed when she arrived at his home. He began abusing her just as her previous captor had.

Feeling utterly trapped, Abiba reached out to the authorities and her family for help, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. No one believed her, and she was left to suffer in silence.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, Abiba has not given up hope. She is currently working with our dedicated team in North Africa to gain her freedom from the bondage of sexual slavery. Our team is committed to helping her navigate this difficult journey and providing her with the support she needs to reclaim her life.

Please pray for Abiba as she works toward freedom. You can learn more about our efforts to rescue and restore women in North Africa here
