WHAT IS THE INTERNSHIP?
This internship is for those who feel a call on their lives to work with survivors of sexual slavery. This is an opportunity to learn what it is like to work day to day with women and/or children who have experienced the horrors of sexual exploitation and are on their healing journey.
Project Rescue affiliated sites serve the European countries of Spain and France and the Eurasian countries of India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Tajikistan and Moldova. Project Rescue ministries offer holistic care in the name of Christ to women and children whose lives have been affected by sexual slavery. It is our privilege to serve each survivor and support the healing work of Jesus in their lives.
IN THE WORDS OF A PAST INTERN…
Life is marked by a series of milestones…critical moments that help define a person’s life. The internship was not only a milestone in my life, it was a direction determiner. For me, the internship wasn’t just a trip. It was the bridge connecting where I was and the future God had for me. It shone a spotlight on where God was leading me and helped determine and define my purpose.
My aim was to enter the internship with zero expectations. While I know that is impossible, what unknown expectations I did have, the Lord surpassed them all. He expanded my ability to love. The girls taught me how to love with abandon. Every single girl I lived with at the home became my sister. Knowing the statistics of human trafficking is one thing. But when the statistics become names, it brings it to a different level. It becomes personal. And that’s what God does. He makes it personal. Because it’s personal to Him.
And during the internship, God began to plant dreams and visions in my heart. Dreams for the home. Dreams for the girls. The girls at the home have the potential to reach so many more people in India than I ever could. Girls who dream to be doctors. Girls who dream to be teachers. Girls who dream to be more than what the world tells them they can be. Girls who hurt for their mothers and desire to do something more. And during the internship, God called me to come back for longer, to walk alongside them and to do all I can do, whatever that may be, to help make their dreams come true and reach their potential in Christ.
Now, one and a half years later, that dream is a reality. Simply put, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the internship experience. Never underestimate what God can do with you saying “yes”. One “yes” can be the catapult that launches you into the rest of your life.
