Three weeks ago as Nancy and I sat in the home, listening to conversations and celebrating with the women, I realized that I was in the presence of living, breathing, joy-filled miracles. The women, their children, and even the staff have come so far. As Tina* did a dance to a Russian worship song, we thought “she has been here only one year and God has totally changed her!” When Essie* shared her desire to one day work at another Freedom Home, we knew that God had given her a new hope and a future.

For six years, we wandered in the wilderness, never really crossing the Jordan and stepping into the Promised Land. In faith, we saw the promise fulfilled, but it was still on the other side of the river. We envisioned total healing in the women, but that always seemed “over there,” and “there” still seemed miles away.

Perhaps we did have a little faith because we kept moving forward despite the circumstances we continually faced. Faith is not always easy to hold onto when the answer takes years to occur. Believing God is capable is different than seeing Him work before your very eyes.

My faith is reaffirmed today. I can stand before you today and say as the apostle Thomas, “My Lord and my God.” I have hugged a houseful of breathing miracles, talked with resurrected souls.

So I entreat you today, hang on in faith. His timeline is different than ours. God still is doing miracles.

In Awe of His Work,

Although Human Trafficking Prevention month for 2012 is concluded, today, February 1, we enter a new month and the fight for freedom is far from over. We must remember the countless women and children who are in desperate need of freedom and restoration through Jesus Christ.

The need is great. Click here to read this recent article about India’s missing children.

“Nearly 11 children go missing in India every hour and at least four of them are never found, according to a study by a child rights organisation….The report says most of the missing children end up as labour, in brothels or in other exploitative situations.”

A song of praise by the daughters of women in sexual slavery

We thank God for our new place,

more room and lots of space

so we dedicate our home to You.

A park and grounds to play

We have fun everyday

So we dedicate our home to You.

But most of all we thank God for one thing,

The greatest gift, so to You we sing:

Let Your light, shine on us,

Let Your light, shine on us.

Take us out of the darkness into Your warm embrace.

Let Your light, shine on us,

Let Your light, shine on us.

So that more can see the power of Your grace…

Young girls living in a Project Rescue affiliated aftercare home wrote this song of thanks with the help of two Project Rescue interns, Melissa Joseph and Vickie Grant. All the girls’ mothers are prostituted women in India. Because of the place God has provided for them through Project Rescue, they will not enter into a life of sexual slavery. We thank God with them that He has taken them from of darkness into light. He is working on behalf of each one of these girls to bring restoration and hope that is only found in Jesus Christ!

At the beginning of her journey Rachel wrote, “Even though I don’t know exactly how this is going to work (and by my own human power, it’s not), I’m incredibly excited to watch God do it, and blessed that I get to play a part in His awesome plan.”

Rachel’s theme verse for her project reads “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and defend the rights of the afflicted and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8-9 As Rachel trusted God’s guidance to start Operation 15, she not only raised $15,000, but went above her goal!

Project Rescue wants to say THANK YOU, Rachel, for helping to see women and children in sexual slavery find freedom in Christ. We pray God richly blesses you as you continue to “do hard things” for the kingdom.

Gratitude is the overwhelming emotion I felt last week in Nagpur, India, while sitting in the living room of the Home of Hope surrounded by 48 young girls. Eight of the girls were twelfth graders, 16 and 17 years old, eager to go to college. They dream of becoming nurses, school teachers, social workers, Bible college students, or being in ministry. The nine year old fourth grader seated closest to me touched my heart. Before coming to the home a few days earlier, she had been sold repeatedly during the last several weeks by those who were supposed to be her protectors. As she expressed her dream of becoming a school teacher I wept. My tears were of gratitude because she is now safe and this Christmas is beginning a journey of healing and transformation.

These precious girls will experience their first real Christmas this year! The gifts they will treasure most will be safety, joy, love and hope. You have helped make this possible. With grateful hearts we say, “Thank you.”

How will these girls, born in brothels, many of whose mothers are dead and who have been exploited more times than we want to believe, overcome their trauma and see their dreams become reality?

• You can help by giving a generous year-end donation to Project Rescue.

• You can help by sharing the story of Project Rescue with friends, family and colleagues.

• You can help by praying for women and children in sexual slavery.

• You can!

With gratitude,

Dear Friends,

We just returned from India and are more excited than ever about what God is doing through Project Rescue affiliated sites. We want to share with you a couple highlights from our time there.

The dedication of the new aftercare home in Kolkata was a deeply touching time. The two beautiful buildings will be able to house up to 160 women and children at full capacity! Continue to join us in prayer for this home and all the lives that will be transformed by the Lord at this place.

The ministry in Delhi celebrated its second anniversary while we were there! Jesus has been more than faithful in providing an outreach center in the red light district and He is working powerfully in the lives of the girls at the aftercare home. Join us in praying that God opens the door for a much-needed boys’ home for the sons of prostituted women. Delhi Project Rescue leadership is deeply burdened and committed to this need.

As we focused intensely on four Project Rescue affiliated ministries with staff and women and children, this was one of the most inspiring, celebratory and heart-wrenching times we have ever had in India. Amazing to see how much God has done in the last several years . . . but also overwhelming when we see the need.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and your essential help for Project Rescue! When you see the life change in hundreds of women and children who’ve found hope through Jesus, it’s worth all the work and the battles!

With love and gratitude,

David and Beth Grant

My name is Amita. I am 36 years old. When I came to the aftercare home I was really sick and weak. Through many peoples’ prayers I was able to get stronger physically and start going school. Now I can read and write well.

Living with HIV/AIDS, life is difficult in this society but I am helping at the training center and going to the hospital to share the gospel with other people living with HIV/AIDS. I take care of them and pray with them, which allows me to share His love. I am so glad to be part of this family. Thank you.

– Amita, Nepal

The Thanksgiving holiday is time where we gather with our family and friends to reflect on how the Lord has blessed us in the past year. This week we thank God with Amita that she is part of His family! He has redeemed her life and is using her to share His love with others. As you think about how God blessed you this year, take some time and thank Him for women and children like Amita. He has brought them out of the darkness of sexual slavery into His family.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.

Psalm 107:1-3

To partner with us to see changed lives like Amita’s donate at https://projectrescue.com/donate.html!

If you are a follower of Jesus and interested in applying, please contact Chelsea at chelseastout@projectrescue.com for details.
Requirements:

- Be at least 21 years old and female

- Be entering into your senior year of college or a graduate

- Have overseas experience serving in some capacity

- Have 6-8 weeks experience volunteering with an agency/ministry serving women and/or children who have experienced sexual abuse (March 1, 2012 deadline)

This internship is for those who feel a call on their lives to work with victims of sexual slavery. It is an opportunity to serve alongside those who are committed to women and children on the healing journey. It is not an internship in the red light district.
