Pat Davis Garcia Talkative, bubbly, effusive

Age: 52 (although as a Southern “belle” I was taught never to reveal such a thing)

Occupation: Wife, Mother, Attorney at Law

My childhood ambition: To be the first woman President

One thing about me that would surprise people: I can be easily intimidated but I hide it extremely well.

Favorite Indulgence: I ADORE long naps on really soft sheets.

Favorite Family ritual: Carry Out Chinese with a movie we can all enjoy in our TV room. We love to eat upstairs and watch movies together which may be why my son is a Film Major in College.

How and why did you become involved with Project Rescue?
I had heard about Project Rescue when David Grant came to our church several years ago and told us about the sex slave trade of young girls in Nepal into India. At the time, my daughter was 11 or 12 and my whole family empathized so much because of our love for our daughter Davis. After that both of my children would occasionally ask that special offerings go to the girls of India rather than give them a gift for their birthday or Christmas. I became more involved in Project Rescue when my long time friend Dr. Beth Grant invited me to accompany her and five other women on a trip to India in October, 2004. I instantly felt my “spirit leap within me” and knew that God had called me to this trip.

When I saw those precious girls and women in Bombay, I knew that I would never forget their plight. The face of India to me is a young girl (just a young teenager) looking out a window several stories above the street, in a brothel, holding her baby and watching the world and life pass her by. There was no sorrow in her face or joy, just a resignation. She had no hope at all. Once you have seen what I have seen no human alive could NOT become involved.

Human trafficking sounds so removed when one hears about it on television, but it isn’t. To see beautiful young girls in a brothel or slightly older women who look much older because they are worn out and disease ridden from slavery then placed in a safe home provided by Project Rescue. It makes the issue become so very important and accessible.
