Pastor Billy Simar Passionate, Convinced, Family-man

Age: 40

Occupation: Senior Pastor

Childhood Ambition: To be in the Special Forces or Delta Force

One thing about yourself that would surprise people: That I am 40 years old

Favorite Indulgence: Nuts

Favorite Family Ritual: Family night on Friday nights – we do theme nights and every thing relates to the theme. One of my favorites was a theme night called “Around the world.” We got a portion of our meal from several different ethnic restaurants and then talked about that portion of the world with our kids and prayed for the missionaries there. Then we went home, ate all the food, did a devotion, and watched the movie Around the World in 80 Days.

How and why did you become involved with Project Rescue?
David Grant was preaching at a church where I was youth pastor. He shared the tragic story of girls who where forced into sexual slavery, and then presented the hope that the ministry of Project Rescue was bringing into the lives of some of the girls. At that moment God gripped my heart and I knew I had to be involved. God challenged me to commit Decembers to Project Rescue, so every December since 1997, I have used that month to raise awareness and funds for Project Rescue.
